Stunning crop art has sprung up across rice fields in Japan. But this is no alien creation - the designs have been cleverly planted. Farmers creating the huge displays use no ink or dye. Instead, different colours of rice plants have been precisely and strategically arranged and grown in the paddy fields.
As summer progresses and the plants shoot up, the detailed artwork begins to emerge.

Our Pekin chicks Bertie and Martha (my dad likes to call her Marth Vader) taken in May last year. Bertie turned out to be a feisty cockerel (he was known as Minnie here before we knew) and is now causing chaos back at my godmothers farm. We had to swap him with a hen almost identical to Martha here because he was upsetting the other hens and the neighbours! :p Martha is currently sat on three fertile eggs that are due to hatch tomorrow! :D
